Mochi Balls are a sacred Shaman Stone and were very likely named after the Moqui Indians. The outside is Iron, and the inside is Sandstone, as you can see from the photos above. They can be used to clear energy blockages. These have traditionally been used as Shaman Stones by some of the Native American tribes. I have sold these stones for many years, and I have never seen them talked about as being male and female. First of all, there are more than just the two formations in Mochi Balls, those other people identify as male and female. There are lots of Mochi Balls that fall in between the two formations, and there are twins as well. I do think that you could have two Mochi Balls that you might feel the need to use as a pair, but it is Boji Stones that actually come in pairs of male and female. I believe that's where the confusion started. Boji Stones are another Iron concretion, but they are heavier than the Mochi Balls, because they do not have Sandstone in the center like the Mochi Balls. They are also called Kansas Pop Rocks because they are found in Kansas.

Someone that is quite "tuned in", shall we say, was telling me recently that Mochi Balls were used by the Native Americans as paint pots (i.e., war paint). They were also used as "spit stones". On long treks when people walked all day, if their mouth got dry, they would put a small Mochi Ball in their mouth to keep their mouth moist with saliva.
